One of the most beautiful aspects of Wilder World is its ability to connect with people on many different levels. Whether it’s gaming, economy, art, or even love, there are many different reasons why Wilders form connections to the project.
And there are a few Wilders who have become so passionate about the project and its future, that they become a part of the lore itself.
Lotene Wilder, born from the palindrome “Live On Time, Emit No Evil,” is one of those who has immersed himself with passion for the project. As a Community Manager and owner of The Wiami Times, Lotene’s passion is so deep that the game has become part of who he is.
His days are spent creating videos for Wilder Education, covering the ecosystem through Daily Briefs, and helping keep Wilders informed from every angle possible.
“Lotene is the ultimate example of a Wilder,” said Shiny Wilder, a fellow Community Manager and Ally for the project. “From writing compelling articles and crafting top-tier content, there’s truly nothing he can’t do. His journey is nothing short of legendary.”
That journey started like many others in the Wilder community – as a newbie – just looking for help from the Discord in order to buy a Wolf.
“I had no idea what the hell I was doing,” Lotene laughed. “I wasn’t able to buy ETH correctly and was panicking, but CryptoCaspa had a DM with me and took the time to walk me through everything, and I successfully got my red wolf that is my PFP now. That experience just increased my interest and I immersed myself in the community after that.”
That kind of welcoming is still one of Lotene’s favorite aspects of Wilder World, and something he feels is a real strength for the project.
“I think we have the best Community Team/Mods anywhere,” Lotene said. “People always talk about how welcoming and helpful we are and that’s something we pride ourselves with. We try to make sure that people are taken care of when they join the community, and we try to support anything that the community is doing to help the project, so seeing the initial excitement always brings me back to when I joined and had the same feeling.”
Lotene’s initial excitement for Wilder World certainly did not fade. He spent most of his free time in the project making graphics, creating songs, helping others, and competing in contests – eventually becoming an Ally. From there, he was chosen to be a Moderator and after another year of hard work, he was presented with the opportunity to join the team as a Community Manager.
“I was blown away by the opportunity,” Lotene said. “Wilder World had become a passionate venture for me, and with my belief in the project and the team, I didn’t hesitate. I left my job at a massive company and joined the Community Team.”
In hindsight, it was the right decision.
Lotene has since been able to travel abroad, hang out with Wilders IRL, and even meet up with CryptoCaspa, the Head of Community at Wilder World, whom he found an immediate connection with.
“I’ve met so many intelligent, friendly, and amazing people at Wilder World that I consider very close friends now,” Lotene said. “I’ve met up with Wilders IRL in Florida a few times, in the UK, and in Germany which has resulted in some amazing experiences. I met CryptoCaspa within the first month or so after joining the project when she was just a moderator and was here on a work trip. We’ve now been engaged for over a year.”
Among those travels, Lotene recalls a special moment from Art Basel 2023, where thousands of people were able to get a first look at Midnight In Wiami. Sitting in the back seat of an Uber at 2 a.m., Lotene listened intently as Frank, n3o, and Sunshine assessed how the event was going.
“It was pretty amazing after having been just a regular community member, and then a moderator, to getting that type of experience with the people making everything happen,” he said.
From there, the Wiami Times was born, and with a background in writing, Lotene wanted to create a platform for community members to share what they were passionate about.
He’s chosen to put his own passion and energy toward his Daily Briefs that run Monday-Thursday, though the future of the Wiami Times will bring much more than that, including potential gamification and a Press Pass system.
Even further, Lotene sees potential to have a news show broadcasted throughout big screens in Wiami, with reporters on the ground keeping the Wilders up to date on the latest events, politics, and DAO activities.
In the meantime, there’s a lot of work to do on the community side, specifically with the @wildernation369 account on X, which is approaching 45,000 followers, as well as the Wilder Education videos that have provided insight and information to many.
One such video is a 34-minute breakdown of the 4,444 genesis land parcels in Wiami, which has nearly 40,000 views.
“These videos do take time to plan, script, gather content, and edit,” Lotene said. “I’m fairly new at video editing as I’ve only been doing it a couple of years, and I’m really focused currently on leveling up my skills. We’re going to be heavily focused on more content in the current market to keep interest, so Wilders can expect a lot of short-form content on a range of different topics within the ecosystem.”
Despite the endless hours Lotene puts into the project, both in his job and in his free time, he’s quick to credit the rest of the community team, the Allies and the Discord Mods for helping shape the project alongside him. And with the continued effort from the team as a whole, Lotene truly believes Wilder World will make a massive impact in Web3 gaming.
For now, Lotene will continue his journey that started so long ago in the trenches of Discord. A journey that has given him connections that extend far beyond what he could have ever imagined.
“Wilder World has really changed my life in many ways and I’m committed to its success personally, financially, and through the passion of the future vision of it,” he said. “I’m honored to be here for the early journey.”
